Become A Mentor: Shaping Lives, Creating Connections

Unlocking Potential: Be a Mentor in the Community Driver Mentorship Programme

Becoming a mentor in the Community Driver Mentorship Programme is not just about teaching driving skills; it’s about making our roads safe and transforming lives.

The Role of a Mentor

As a mentor, you play a pivotal role in shaping the future of safe driving on New Zealand roads. Your responsibilities include:

  • Support Practice Drives: Engage in two one-hour practice drives twice weekly, following the programme’s structured framework.
  • Guide Through Challenges: Commit to helping the learner driver implement skills taught by our professional instructors, providing guidance during challenging moments.
  • Empower and Encourage: Be a positive role model, encouraging and empowering learners as they navigate the learning process.
  • Maintain Patience and Composure: Display patience and composure during practice sessions, creating a supportive and comfortable learning environment.

The Impact of Mentorship: More Than a Licence

Helping someone obtain a driver’s licence extends beyond the practicalities of driving. It’s about:

  • Ensuring Safe Transportation: Safely getting children to school, creating a positive impact on their education.
  • Enhancing Employability: Facilitating access to employment opportunities by removing transportation barriers.
  • Community Connection: Fostering a sense of community by enabling individuals to connect more deeply with their surroundings.
